Digital Musical Synthesizer with Analog Control for Eurorack Platform
Klecl, Martin ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
This work explores the topic of digital audio signal processing for modular synthesizers and the design of digital oscillator for modular standard known as Eurorack. Introduction of the theoretical part is dedicated to basic terms and blocks used in modular synthesizers. The thesis also characterizes and presents the methods of sound synthesis. The second part of the theory concerns analog and digital signal conversion made by digital signal processors DSP, focusing on ARM with focus on ARM architecture. The practical part of the thesis concerns design and construction of the digital oscillator which generates periodic waveforms without aliasing distortion. The oscillator also allows several types of modulations and waveforming and the module has several inputs for connecting control voltages or external audio signals.
Design of the voltage controlled oscillator
Richter, Vladimír ; Pavlík, Michal (referee) ; Háze, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the issues of voltage controlled oscillators. It analyses their current state and provides the examples of them. It also describes phase locked loop stages and the usage of voltage controlled oscillators in phase locked loops. The main aim of this thesis is to design a voltage controlled oscillator and use it to realize the important simulations.
Digitally controlled analog function blocks and systems
Brich, Tomáš ; Brzobohatý, Jaromír (advisor)
Goal of this doctoral thesis is to focus to understand of behavior of working of basic electronics circuits and to appoint which parameters of these circuits is possible to control using external digital system. Further the examples of some digitally controlled analog circuits are present and the analysis of these circuits is achieved. Some of these blocks are realized and the results of that’s measuring is presented.
Analog Modular Synthesizer
Klecl, Martin ; Urban, Ondřej (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis explores the topic of analog modular synthesizers and the circuit designs used in these devices. The introduction of the theoretical part deals with the basic terminology of modular synthesizers and their history and classification. The thesis also presents and characterizes the methods of producing sound focusing on additive, subtractive and modulation synthesis. From the fundamental components of a subtractive synthesizer, the thesis describes a voltage controlled filter, voltage controlled oscillator, low frequency oscillator and voltage controlled amplifier. The practical part of the thesis concerns design and construction of these components into a single universal Eurorack format module. The results of the thesis comprise measurements of the parameters of each of the basic blocks of the synthesizer module.
Control unit for Eurorack audio modular system
Zach, Pavel ; Novotný, Radovan (referee) ; Levek, Vladimír (advisor)
The aim of the thesis is to design and implement a control system for a Eurorack modular audio system. The system consists of a voltage controlled oscillator, circuits for its control and is equipped with MIDI connectivity. The theoretical part describes the different sound synthesis methods and how the synthesis is implemented. Furthermore, the text discusses the integrated circuit used and the MIDI protocol itself. The practical part focuses on the design of the control block, which contains a voltage controlled oscillator. The module provides signals for other modules of the Eurorack platform and is capable of communicating with a computer and other MIDI peripherals.
Design of low-frequency phase locked loop for sensing applications in low-voltage TSMC 0.18 um process
Svoboda, Marek ; Dvořák, Radek (referee) ; Šotner, Roman (advisor)
The work deals with the design of FM modulation chains and their sub-circuits, which construction is based on analog multipliers produced in the TSCM process 0.18 m 1.8 V. One chain operate with a rectangular carrier and the other one with a harmonic carrier wave. The basic carrier frequency is 100 kHz, and the basic test modulation signal is 1 kHz harmonic waveform. Demodulators are built on the principle of the phase-locked loop, and the aim of the work is to verify the functionality of such a loop and to determine its limiting properties. The work also contains graphical outputs from the Cadence Virtuoso development package, in which all simulations were performed.
